Sign Up Today....and be a part of the Tiger 1 Kampfgruppe
We are always on the look out for high quality recruits and although we aim to keep the membership low to reflect the tight knit and personal ethic of the group we will from time to time take more people on as the group expands.
Thereare a couple of things to consider before you steam on in and contact the recruiter. Firstly, what we are looking for in members has to be made clear. We want commitment. You will be expected to get involved with the groups activities. This could involve the less glamorous jobs such as painting and vehicle maintenance, digging trenches at events, putting up tents, laying out kit. Of course we all like to get dressed up and re-enact but this group is not just about hanging on at the periphery while somebody else does all the work. If you want to do your own thing then go join another group.
The other requirement is of course that if you want to portray a soldier you have to actually look and act soldierly. If you are 17 stone, 4’ 9” and walk with a limp then we’re not for you! We’re not expecting you to have the age range or fitness of a British Army Paratrooper either or have golden hair, blue eyes and speak German but the way you look and behave is a prerequisite to joining us. On the other hand of course, it must be also said that we don’t do foot drill, shout at each other in German, do field punishment and we never, ever do Nazi salutes or express any political beliefs.
Are you a German WWII military vehicle owner? Whatever you have, from a Kubelwagen up to a Jagdpanther; we maybe able to help each other. We at Tiger 1 are one of the UK’s newest and most easily recognisable re-enactment and military vehicle groups. We care passionately about our hobby and in preserving the heritage and memory of the equipment and people of one of the most important events of modern history.
Formed only as recently as April 2006, we have attended most of the big military vehicle shows this year with honours and high praise. On our first ever event at this years War and Peace show, we hit the scene right between the eyes with our breathtaking snow scene “Ardennes 1944” and subsequently won second prize for best display.
Amongst our extensive inventory of equipment, vehicles, ordnance, weaponry and uniforms our most tangible asset is of course one of the most photographed and recognised vehicles on the circuit today, the replica Tiger 1. On parallel with this are our members. We don’t just allow anyone in. Members are chosen for their willingness to get really involved and contribute to every aspect of the group and not just sit on the periphery and let someone else do all the work. Anyone joining us will have excellent support from a dedicated and friendly membership.
We are trying to build the bridges between re-enactor and military vehicle enthusiast and as the founders of this group came from each of these backgrounds we understand and know what works to benefit both interests. A point that is obvious with the accolades we have received in our first seven months and on how much fun and satisfaction our members get.
What can we offer you? Well, apart from FREE membership, whilst at shows we would be happy for you to show your vehicle on our extensive display. We are always, always given prime sites where the public most readily and easily see us. This gives great exposure to you and your vehicle and will ensure you aren’t tucked away on the tree line. With our guidance and your approval you can show your vehicle in the correct context to realise it’s full potential to an admiring public and other enthusiasts.
We have members ready to crew the vehicles in accurate, period uniforms. Reliable, experienced ex-Army track licence holders number in our membership and are backed up with mechanics, craftsmen, enthusiasts and a whole host of willing helpers. We have close ties to one of the UK’s foremost military vehicle restorer and conversion specialist. We can also arrange transport at favourable rates and are willing to help assist with transport costs if the vehicle is of special interest. We will treat anyone with respect and empathy and do our utmost to help each other take our mutual interests beyond what is already the norm on the scene today.
So, do you want to become part of something really different? Would you rather sit on the tree line next to the “others” doing the same thing year after year or join in with a group who are new and progressive? If the answer is that you would like to try something different then please drop us a line by email to kskinfo@aol.com for a no obligation presentation on becoming an associated or even a full member of Tiger 1, Kampfgruppe StahlKrieger WWII re-enactment group. We are particularly interested in hearing from tracked and armoured vehicle owners but also from wheeled too!
